The Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has received 30 applications from iGaming and sportsbook operators wishing to do business in the province, and has issued its first registrations to PointsBet, Rivalry Corporation and theScore Bet.

The new market is scheduled to open on April 4th, and registration with the AGCO is the first of two steps potential operators are required to take, the second being the execution of an operating agreement with AGCO subsidiary, iGaming Ontario.

At present, only one operator, the government-owned Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation, is allowed to offer iGaming in the province and its online sportsbook, Proline+, also enjoys a monopoly position. But, as John Levy, CEO of theScore, has confirmed, change is on the horizon: “We have been and will continue to be at the forefront as regulated internet gaming is introduced in Ontario and are beyond excited to be able to bring theScore Bet to our home market on April 4th. Finally, the countdown to launch has begun.”
