The African Gaming Forum is set to unite senior stakeholders from across Africa to discuss sustainable growth in the gaming industry amidst evolving regulation and taxation.
Scheduled for September 30th at the Myriad Hotel in Lisbon, the invitation-only event will focus on challenges and opportunities in established and emerging African markets.
The agenda includes dedicated sessions on Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Ethiopia, providing insights into market developments and implications for operators aiming to expand in the region.
Rasmus Sojmark, Founder & CEO of SBC, says: “The African gaming industry is developing at an incredible pace, and we wanted to create a dedicated space at SBC Summit where the people driving that growth can come together.
“Africa is not one market. Each jurisdiction is developing under different regulatory, commercial and cultural conditions, and this means the challenges and opportunities vary significantly from country to country.
“The African Gaming Forum is designed to reflect this reality, giving delegates the chance to hear directly from the people working in those markets and understand what growth looks like on the ground.”
The conference will kick off with a session titled GRAF Regulator Panel: African Gaming Under the Microscope, hosted by the Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF). It will feature industry leaders like Lungile Dukwana, CEO of the National Gambling Board in South Africa, and Vusi Mtsweni, CEO of the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator. The panel will explore frameworks that encourage growth while ensuring compliance and player protection.
Following this, the CEO Panel: Leading the Way – Scaling the Opportunity in Africa will tackle the continent’s biggest challenges. Experts such as Christopher Coyne, CEO of 888Africa, and Jeremiah Maangi, Founder & CEO of iGaming AFRIKA, will discuss strategies for capitalizing on Africa’s young, mobile-first audience and navigating cultural and regulatory differences.
Ghana will be spotlighted in the panel A New Entry to the Big 4: Gaming in Ghana Continues Apace, examining the market’s rapid growth and regulatory developments. The session will feature insights from Akomea Kwaku Ohemeng Agyei, CEO of Mybet Africa, and Kobby Boateng, President of the Ghana Association of Sports Betting Operators.
Additional sessions include Kenya’s regulatory changes, Nigeria’s economic opportunities and South Africa’s taxation impacts. The Forum also provides networking opportunities, connecting attendees with operators, regulators and industry associations, ensuring discussions are grounded in the realities of African markets.
The event is in partnership with organisations like iGaming AFRIKA and GRAF, offering media reach, regulatory expertise and industry representation.
SBC and GHASBO strengthen Ghana’s voice at African Gaming Forum
SBC has teamed up with GHASBO to increase Ghanaian operator participation and create new opportunities for knowledge exchange at the African Gaming Forum 2026.
SBC and the Ghana Association of Sports Betting Operators (GHASBO) have announced a new strategic partnership designed to strengthen operator representation and bring greater Ghanaian market expertise to the Forum. GHASBO will support the Forum by bringing the perspectives and priorities of Ghana’s operator community into its discussions, helping address the issues affecting businesses active in the market.
The collaboration will also give Ghana’s betting industry a platform beyond the Forum, with GHASBO becoming a regular contributor to SBC Media coverage of the country’s gaming and regulatory landscape and sharing the knowledge of those helping shape its development with an international audience.
Rasmus Sojmark adds: “GHASBO members understand the opportunities, pressures and day-to-day realities of Ghana’s betting market, and their involvement will help ensure those experiences are represented in Lisbon. Just as importantly, it gives us another opportunity to connect Ghana’s operator community with peers, regulators and industry leaders from across Africa and beyond.”
Dr Kobby Boateng, President of GHASBO, says: “Partnerships like this are incredibly important to us, not only because they provide greater visibility for Ghana’s gaming industry, but because they connect our leading operators with the wider global gaming community. It allows us to share what we have learned in Ghana while learning from the experiences of other markets.
“The African Gaming Forum brings all sides of the industry together, and we are excited to ensure Ghana and its operators have a strong voice in those conversations as we look at how we can continue building a stronger gaming market across the continent.”
