The past few months has seen the team at Malta-based iGaming content developer, BGaming, analysing current gaming industry trends, with a view to determining the latest and most influential market changes.

As expected, cryptocurrency play showed significant growth through Q3, and mobile play has maintained its leading position. In fact, according to BGaming’s statistics, mobile gaming has far and away remained the most popular method of gaming, with almost 95% of BGaming players choosing to play on their mobile devices, as opposed to just 3% and 2% for computers and tablets, respectively.

The company also reports that the demography of the player base has slightly shifted, with the share of the young adult audience is growing by almost 6% over the past 12 months. In the current climate, young adults are clearly spending more time at home and are looking for new forms of entertainment. In terms of responding to such a trend, it is the responsibility of iGaming creators to develop new games and new products to meet the needs of this hungry market.

“When composing the road map for our own games, we always rely on the analytics,” says Marina Ostrovtsova, Executive Director at BGaming. “Of course, we strive to meet the needs of different generations, but it is important to be flexible and quickly notice changes in the market. For example, we have seen that the demand for exclusive products is growing and that operators want to see unique games created according to their requests. So now, this is what we are working on, producing Brand Exclusive games for operators.”

Returning to the subject of cryptocurrencies, this past year has seen an explosion in the popularity of cryptocurrency across all aspects of life. As digital money has become more normalised, more trusted and more widely accepted, there has been a surge in its use across all iGaming products. Bitcoin continues to be its most popular form, but Litecoin has shown a remarkable rise in popularity across Q3, increasing by 49%. And Tether has also grown in favour through 2021, with a 108% increase in its use across BGaming titles in Q3.

“Being the first iGaming provider in the world to offer cryptocurrency play, we pay particular attention to crypto gambling,” highlights Bogdan Gres, BGaming’s Brand Team Lead. “We expand our network of crypto projects, and we see the results. The number of explosive wins on crypto projects has significantly risen over the past few months,” he concludes.
