Promising proximity where progress takes root, the Balkan Entertainment & Gaming Expo (BEGE) is one of the most significant gaming events in the European calendar. This year, the full event took place between November 20th and 23rd, with BEGE expo and Eastern European Gaming Summit occupying the final two days.
The venue is the spectacular, multi-purpose Inter Expo Center (IEC) in Sofia, Bulgaria, and is the largest gathering of gaming professionals in the region and includes developers, manufacturers and suppliers, land-based and online operators, affiliates, payment service providers, media and various associations.
Now in its 14th year, BEGE features more than 80 companies from all sectors of the gaming industry as they showcase their newest cutting-edge products, services and solutions. And alongside, at EEGS, and the Affiliate Conference, a stellar line-up of speakers and panellists discuss the key industry of today and, even more importantly, tomorrow.
BEGE caters to everything from traditional casino fare to sports betting and non-gaming amenities to digital products.
A world class venue
The IEC consists of six exhibition halls, eight congress halls, plus outdoor exhibition spaces. It is the largest convention and exhibition venue in Sofia, with the development also including an office tower above the main reception area and restaurants around the main entrance.
The IEC provides more than 50 years of experience in hosting and promoting almost every kind of large-scale event, including but not limited to corporate and congress events, international B2B exhibitions, concerts, festivals and gala dinners. In terms of suitability for BEGE, the IEC’s 2023 calendar consists of over 30 major trade exhibitions.
Superb transport links
The 42,000sqm IEC is located in the south-eastern area of Sofia, 6km from the city centre, just 3km from the international airport and 15 minutes from the central railway station. The IEC also has its own Metro station, the IEC Tsarigradsko Shose Station, part of the Sofia Metro.
The parking lot has 700 spaces and additional onsite IEC services include restaurants, cafes, banking, insurance and tourist services, hotel booking, flight booking and car rental.
Revealing new horizons
One of the principal objectives of both BEGE and EEGS is to gather the industry’s finest companies and experts and create a platform with for new deals, partnerships, networking and knowledge exchange.
This year’s BEGE delivers an exciting program that includes a new format of BEGE Awards, honouring the most outstanding achievements in the sector. Winners were chosen by an esteemed jury of international experts and announced during the Official Dinner & Awards Ceremony on November 21st, at Club Black and White in the Palms Royale Sofia Complex, Grand Hotel Millennium, Sofia.
Another new feature of the exhibition was the Proximity Zone, serving as a platform for presentations and interviews streamed to a global audience.
Eastern European Gaming Summit
Also taking place on November 22nd and 23rd, the EEGS agenda explores many fundamentals of the gaming landscape. Essential topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), advertising, gamification, land-based challenges, regulation, responsible gaming and payment solutions will be the subject of discussions and thought exchanges.
Apart the multiple panel discussions, the wide-ranging keynote presentations provide the audience with know-how regarding current and further challenges.
As a part of the program, the IMGL Masterclass and GLI Regulators’ Round Table offer valuable perspectives and solutions on present and future regulatory aspects.
Further events included the Gaming StartUp Challenge, the Masterclass on November 20th and the Affiliate Conference on November 21st, the latter two taking place at the Palms Royale Sofia Complex, Grand Hotel Millennium. Hot topics such as marketing automation, dynamic creativity, technology usage, player engagement, intellectual property (IP), brand values and ethical communications were dissected and debated.
