The office of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has confirmed that the final three candidates for the city’s casino licence are Hard Rock Chicago, Rivers 78 and Bally’s Tribune.
A Hard Rock Chicago Casino would be built near the iconic Soldier Field sports stadium. The Bally’s Tribune proposed site is along the Chicago River, by Chicago Avenue, and the Rivers 78 site would be part of a new development, close to Clark and Roosevelt.
A special committee of City Aldermen, made up of committee chairs and vice chairs, will help make the final choice, expected to be announced this summer. Mayor Lightfoot’s office has also announced plans to hold public hearings on the three finalists during the first week of April.
The new casino will generate an estimated $200m in annual income for the city, much of which will be earmarked to cover public sector pension debt.
