Bidders for one of New York’s upcoming casino licenses, the Chickasaw Nation, Lends, Thor Equities and Saratoga Casino Holdings, have unveiled rendered images of a potential Coney Island casino, named The Coney.

The proposed complex consists of a new resort-hotel, directly opposite the iconic Coney Island Boardwalk, where thousands of fair-weather visitors already enjoy the seasonal Luna Park amusements offering. The casino bidders’ proposal is based upon extending the appeal of the area into the quieter, off-season months.

Commenting on this latest proposal, Brooklyn Council member, Robert Cornegy Jr. told local news media: “I get to put passion where my mouth is and do something epic by bringing economic stability to Coney Island.

“We have such a vibrant group of locally-owned businesses that have been calling out for a year-round economic driver.”

New York’s Community Advisory Committee is evaluating all the proposals it has received, with the precise roadmap for their final decisions as yet unconfirmed.
