Technology specialists SOFTSWISS have presented a report detailing statistics and insights on the development of cryptocurrency across its online casino and sports betting platforms, and its Game Aggregator clients. The information was collected anonymously and reflects comparative data for the third quarters of 2020 and 2021. The main conclusion is that the volume of bets placed in cryptocurrency is rapidly increasing. Andrey Starovoitov, SOFTSWISS CEO, believes that this growth is not only due to his company’s organic development, but also to increased digital consumption around the world: “iGaming companies are investing more and more into marketing. This leads to an increase in the popularity of online gaming and betting among female audiences and young players over the age of 21 who actively use cryptocurrencies in their daily lives, and for online betting in particular.”

It is a fact that cryptocurrencies are gradually encroaching on ‘fiat’ currencies with online play. Since 2020, the crypto share has increased significantly, which Mr. Starovoitov believes is “most likely due to the growth and development of the number of crypto brands.” However, in the sportsbook category, the ‘fiat’ currencies retain an absolute advantage, with almost 99% of bets placed. SOFTSWISS’ Sportsbook Product Owner, Aleksander Kamenetskyi, believes that this is most likely “because the majority of our Sportsbook clients are companies that launched without an initial focus on cryptocurrency operation. Their main focus was on fiat. However, the trend has changed and now cryptocurrencies are always considered an important component when launching new projects. Therefore, I am sure crypto share will only grow in the future.”
