According to reports on Czech television, the country’s government is planning to levy a higher tax on gambling.
Finance Minister, Zbyněk Stanjura, explained that the government is looking to boost revenues and improve the state of public finances and is considering a number of tax rises.
According to Mr. Stanjura, the government aims to reduce next year’s budget deficit by CZK70bn, of which two-thirds of which will be achieved by reducing expenditure.
The state currently collects around CZK9bn from gambling each year.
