Detroit casinos report $1.29bn in revenue for 2021, up more than 100% from 2020

According to figures released by Michigan Gaming Control Board, the three Detroit casinos, MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino and Greektown Casino, netted $1.294bn in aggregate revenue in 2021, an increase of more than 100% over their 2020 total of $639m.

Slot machines generated $998.8m, 77% of the total, with table games bringing in $268m and retail sports betting $26.95m. This 2021 total does not include revenues from online gambling, which is reported separately, and falls short of the record 2019 total of $1.454bn.

MGM Grand Detroit led with 43% market share, compared to MotorCity’s 35% market share and Greektown’s 22%. All three reported significant growth – MGM Grand Detroit by $554m, MotorCity by $438.3m and Greektown $274.5m.
