EGB Group is reinforcing its dedication to fostering a safe betting environment in Brazil by targeting the illegal gambling market. At the Public Policy Forum for Digital Advertising in Brasília, Chief Business Officer, Hugo Baungartner, highlighted the importance of education and public awareness in differentiating regulated operators from unlicensed ones.

Baungartner stressed that ensuring the public can distinguish between legal and illegal operators is crucial. He noted that regulated advertising should serve as a reliable reference point for consumers.

“The regulated market wants to be part of the solution. For the sector to be sustainable, we need to invest in education and public awareness, helping users clearly understand who operates within the rules and who does not,” Baungartner said.

He emphasised that advertising is not merely a marketing tool but a means of consumer protection.

The forum discussed how restricting the communication of licensed operators could unintentionally obscure the distinction between legal and illegal providers, complicating consumer decision-making.

Baungartner explained, “When licensed brands are unable to communicate effectively, it creates a vacuum that illegal operators are quick to fill.

“Users don’t stop seeking entertainment, but without clear signals, they lose the ability to differentiate between safe, regulated environments and unlicensed platforms.”

Renato Pucci, SPA’s General Coordinator of Betting Supervision, added to the conversation, acknowledging the challenges of maintaining clear communication channels in the betting sector.

The forum convened industry leaders and policymakers to deliberate on the evolution of digital advertising within Brazil’s regulated betting market, underscoring the necessity of collaboration between regulators and operators.

Through these efforts, EGB Group aims to pave the way for a sustainable betting industry in Brazil, ensuring that consumers are well-informed and protected from illegal gambling activities.
