The Game Awards is the most prestigious computer gaming awards event of the year, and it is a testament to the continuing growth and establishment of esports that the sector is now represented by five categories at this most elite of recognition ceremonies.
The five dedicated esports categories are: Best Esports Player, Best Esports Team, Best Esports Coach and Best Esports Game and Best Esports Event.
Noted successes were a fourth consecutive Best Esports Event title for the Worlds and a third consecutive Best Esports Game win for League of Legends. An additional success came for Dream, who was awarded Content Creator of the Year, a category that covers all sectors and not only esports.
