November’s prestigious SiGMA Europe exhibition in Malta saw Esports Technologies, a platinum sponsor of the event, present a new CS:GO tournament. The Sigma Esports Technologies Cup aimed to bring together legends of the game with the next generation of players. Eight teams took part, including Astralis academy side Astralis Talent, Saw Youngsters from Portugal, Eversio from Malta, TTC, Tranquillum and FTW, as well as two UK teams, Feenix and Coalesce. A wildcard team assembled by Esports Technologies and Emil ‘HeatoN’ Christensen also took part. ‘HeatoN’ is an esports manager and former professional CS:GO player. He was team captain of Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP), Manager of NiP until October 2018 and is widely considered one of the best CS:GO players of all time.
The tournament took place in a dedicated arena within the SiGMA Esports Village at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre featured a prize pool of $15,000.
