Caesars Sportsbook, within the Harrah’s Casino in New Orleans, begun accepting its first sports bets in late October. Three further Louisiana casinos, Boomtown in Harvey, L’Auberge in Baton Rouge and the Horseshoe in Bossier City, have also been issued with the new sports betting licenses and will roll out their sports betting programs imminently. The Louisiana electorate actually approved sports betting in 2020, but State lawmakers had then to develop and confirm the regulatory and taxation framework.
Samir Mowad, Senior VP & General Manager at Caesars Entertainment, confirmed that Harrah’s players had been keen to place their bets: “It was just a steady stream of guests coming up and saying Is this open? and Can we bet now?”
