Readers of Autosport magazine and Traxion.GG readers have voted Red Bull Racing Esports’ 21-year-old Danish sim racer, Frederik Rasmussen, as their winner of the Esports Driver of the Year award.
At the start of the 2021 year, Rasmussen won the Formula E: Accelerate Championship, despite being a comparative novice on the rFactor 2 platform. This success earned the young Dane a test drive in a real-world Gen2 Formula E car. Rasmussen then went on to finish second in Formula 1 Esports Series Pro, helping Red Bull Racing Esports to the runner-up spot in the Constructors’ Championship.
Speaking on his season and his award win, Rasmussen said: “My biggest support system has probably been my parents. They have always been very supportive. Except they wanted me to get an education first. But I eventually quit since I could certainly make a living and focus in Esports. But they supported me quitting education and all that, which was great. Thanks to everyone who voted for me in the Driver of the Year Award.”
