According to a report in credible UK newspaper, The Times, high profile Irish businessman and former Formula 1 team owner, Eddie Jordan, may have renewed his interest in acquiring Playtech.

Mr. Jordan is understood to be considering returning to the table following the collapse of the previous leading bid from Hong Kong investment fund TTB Partners, a shareholder in Playtech that plans to remain so.

Playtech’s board initially supported a takeover by Aristocrat Leisure, but this was rejected by shareholders. At that time, interest was expressed by JKO Play, an investment vehicle owned by Eddie Jordan and Keith O’Loughlin and reportedly backed by Vikrant Bhargava, co-founder of Party Gaming. But this too, came to nothing at that time, some six months ago.

With Mor Weizer, Group CEO of Playtech, continuing to remain positive about the company’s performance and longer-term prospects, the timing may now be right for Jordan to make his move.
