Online betting accounted for almost two-thirds of Kazakhstan’s gambling and betting services in 2025 after the value recorded for the segment increased more than tenfold.

The value of online betting services in Kazakhstan rose from KZT34.8bn (US$70mn) in 2024 to KZT370.5bn ($780mn) last year, according to the country’s Bureau of National Statistics.

Online betting’s share of the gambling and betting sector consequently increased from 6% to 62.6% in a single year.

The overall value of services provided by the sector grew by a more modest 1.9% to a record KZT592.2bn ($1.26bn).

Land-based activity declined during the year. Casino services fell by 16.2% to KZT24.9bn ($52mn), while the value of gaming machine services decreased by 17% to KZT4.4bn ($9.2mn).

Other betting services dropped from KZT357.9bn ($754mn) to KZT187bn ($394mn), while the value recorded under other gambling services fell from KZT141bn ($297mn) to KZT5.3bn ($11.2mn).

The scale of the movements between individual categories, despite limited growth across the sector as a whole, suggests that changes in statistical classification may have contributed to the sharp increase recorded for online betting.

The figures therefore relate to the value of services reported within each category and should not be interpreted as showing a tenfold increase in total player spending.

The ownership profile of the sector also shifted. Privately owned Kazakh companies accounted for 63.7% of the total value of services in 2025, while foreign-owned organisations represented 36.2%.

Foreign companies had accounted for almost three-quarters of the total a year earlier.
