Liberia has officially approved prediction markets under its International Gaming Licence, marking a significant step in aligning with global jurisdictions that offer regulated online wagering.

The Liberia Online Gaming and Casino Commission, overseen by the National Lottery Authority, announced that the markets are now fully licensed and regulated, supporting international scale.

By integrating prediction markets into its International Gaming Licence, Liberia seeks to offer operators and suppliers clear compliance standards and regulatory clarity. The National Lottery Authority indicated that the framework mirrors international gaming norms, thereby placing Liberia’s licensed prediction markets on par with established global platforms like Polymarket.

Liberia’s regulatory structure is designed to support both B2C and B2B participants across the prediction market value chain. The framework is open to platform operators, technology providers, aggregators and retail-focused businesses, each operating under specific licensing conditions.

Licensed companies gain access to approved banking and payment partners, recognition from international financial institutions and integration support from established technology suppliers.

Regulators emphasise the availability of jurisdiction-specific legal opinions to assist operators looking to expand into multiple international markets while maintaining regulatory compliance. A key aspect of the new framework is its focus on financial access, addressing long-standing banking barriers that have hindered prediction markets and emerging wagering models.

Under Liberia’s updated regime, licensed operators can secure approved financial services within a regulated environment, reducing reliance on informal or offshore payment solutions. For players, these changes aim to provide transparent and legally recognised prediction market platforms.

For operators, the framework offers regulatory certainty, banking stability and enhanced international credibility, essential for long-term growth.

This move is part of Liberia’s broader effort to modernise its gaming legislation and align with international regulatory standards, as prediction markets continue to attract attention from investors and regulators worldwide.
