The southern US state of Louisiana has become the latest to go live with online sports betting, with Barstool Sports, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, DraftKings and FanDuel hitting the switch on January 28th.

Louisiana is home to a total of 20 land-based casinos, all of which are now eligible to operate two online sportsbooks, so these first six are expected to be quickly joined by others across the state.

Jay Snowden, President & CEO of Bartstool Sportsbook owner Penn National, said of Barstool’s 12th state launch: “We are thrilled to be launching our Barstool Sportsbook online sports betting product in Louisiana, which will provide our retail casino customers and mychoice loyalty program members another exciting way to enjoy our unique entertainment offerings. I want to thank the Louisiana Gaming Control Board and their staff for their time and effort in reviewing and approving our application. We look forward to adding Louisiana to our portfolio of states where we operate online sports betting as we continue our company’s evolution into the leading omni-channel provider of retail and online gaming, live racing and sports betting entertainment.”
