Melco Cyprus, operator of the Cyprus Casinos properties, has pledged that in the upcoming month, it will increase its staffing levels by over 250% as it prepares for the opening of its flagship casino resort, the City of Dreams Mediterranean, in Limassol. Melco Cyprus currently employs around 700 people, the vast majority of whom are locals. But that number is expected to reach 2,500, with the City of Dreams Mediterranean construction phase estimated to create approximately 4,000 local job opportunities.

Melco Cyprus is a joint venture between the Asian casino investor Melco Resorts and Entertainment and Cyprus-based conglomerate Cyprus Phassouri (Zakaki). The partnership has a 30-year exclusive licence for the jurisdiction. Other Melco Cyprus casinos include Nicosia, Ayia Napa and Paphos. Speaking in early November, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung said that City of Dreams Mediterranean is scheduled to open in the second half of 2022.
