As Canada’s iGaming market evolves, operators face pressure to enhance payment processes while adhering to strict compliance standards and mitigating fraud risks.

The Payments & Compliance track at SBC Summit Canada, running from May 19th to 21st at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, will address these challenges. This event will unite operators, regulators, and technology providers to develop efficient, compliant systems.

Key sessions will delve into the complexities of AML frameworks, the impact of payments on performance and the importance of coordination to maintain the integrity of both sports and betting markets.

Opening the track is AML After the Audits: From Box-Ticking to Shared Infrastructure, which will discuss integrating AML compliance into daily operations. Compliance experts such as Steve Armstrong, Susan Bala, Dave Foppert, Rebekah Jackson, Chad Kornett and Derek Ramm will debate AML risk ownership in Canada and strategies for compliance at provincial and federal levels. This session will also address Payment-led AML challenges and opportunities.

Payments That Perform: What Actually Moves the Needle in Canadian iGaming will focus on creating optimal payment journeys for Canadian players. Panellists including Dami Amurawaiye, Nick Gunn, Kevin Jing, Gaurav Juneja and Sam Kawsarani will discuss how operators can meet player demands for speed, reliability and ease in deposits and withdrawals. The discussion will also tackle persistent friction in withdrawals and managing banking volatility, fraud and chargebacks.

Protecting Sport Integrity in Canada’s Evolving Betting Market, led by Scott Grant, will highlight strategies to safeguard sports from competition manipulation. Attendees will learn about match fixing, warning signs and collaboration to prevent sports manipulation.

The track concludes with a masterclass on quasi-gambling in Canada by IMGL. Legal experts Danielle Bush, Ron Segev, Jack Tadman and Kevin Weber will explore prediction markets, sweepstakes, mystery boxes and skill games from a legal perspective, analysing recent cases and future legal developments.

SBC Summit Canada’s Payments & Compliance track is one of six, with others including Leaders in Sports Betting & Casino, Leaders in Land-Based and Lottery, Affiliates and Advertising, Player Protection and Cybersecurity. Masterclasses on land-based and online casino strategies will also be featured.
