Under the terms of an agreement signed on January 20th, the Chinese internet giant Tencent will work alongside The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to promote the development of esports in Asia, with the Asian Electronic Sports Federation. The agreement was signed by the two at the Asian Electronic Esports Development Conference.
For the first time, esports will appear as an official medal sport at the 19th Asian Games, to be held in Hangzhou, in East China’s Zhejiang Province from September 10th to 25th. Esports was a demonstration event at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia, back in 2018.
The eight games to appear at Hangzhou 2022 will be: League of Legends, DOTA 2, FIFA Online 4, Hearthstone, Arena of Valor Asian Games Version, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, PUBG Mobile Asian Games Version and Street Fighter V.
