Alberta has launched regulated online casino gaming and mobile sports betting, becoming the second Canadian province after Ontario to do so.
The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) will oversee this new market, while Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) will act as regulator, with an anticipated revenue of CA$76m in the first year.
A total of 46 operators have expressed interest in the Alberta market. Notable participants include DraftKings and FanDuel, both of which have announced their imminent launch. FanDuel is also contributing $50,000 to the A Dollar A Day Foundation to support mental health initiatives and $30,000 to the Canada Red Cross Emergency Management Program. Additionally, FanDuel has partnered with Light & Wonder to introduce the Huff ‘N’ Puff slot franchise to Alberta.
DraftKings is set to launch its sportsbook, casino, and Golden Nugget Online Gaming brand in Alberta, marking its 34th jurisdiction in North America. Other confirmed operators include Delta Casino and Betty, along with bet365 and Tonybet.
bet365 has revealed that its Sub On Play On promotion will play a significant role in its Alberta offerings.
Trip Stoddard, Head of Development at bet365, says: “Canada is a key market for bet365, and cementing our brand’s presence in Alberta marks another milestone in our long-term commitment to Canadian sports fans.
“We are proud to work alongside Alberta’s regulators to give fans a trusted platform to engage with the sports they love through a responsible, world-class experience.”
Tonybet has also prepared for its Alberta debut by localizing its platform and completing commercial onboarding with the AiGC.
Dmitry Arabuli, CEO, says: “Alberta is taking the right approach – building a regulated market that puts player protection and operational standards at the centre from the start.”
Tonybet aims to replicate its success in Ontario, where it achieved a 52% growth in registrations and GGR in 2025, with responsible gaming as a core component.
Arabuli adds: “Securing this licence means we can bring the same commitment to Alberta, and we plan to be fully operational in the market.”
