Cambodia’s gambling regulator is preparing nationwide casino inspections as part of efforts to strengthen oversight of the licensed market.
The Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia said officials had reviewed preparations for the inspection and assessment programme alongside its priorities for the second half of 2026. The meeting also considered the regulator’s strategic plan for 2027-2030.
The Commission has not confirmed when inspections will begin, how many properties will be covered or the criteria that will be applied.
The initiative follows an earlier review of the final draft of the inspection project and measures intended to improve the licensing of gaming professionals.
Aun Pornmoniroth, CGMC Chairman, called in June for government departments to verify casino licences and compliance with Cambodian law. He warned that operators connected to online fraud, illegal gambling or other unlawful activity could lose their licences.
The inspections come amid sustained international scrutiny of scam operations linked to casinos, hotels and purpose-built compounds.
The programme will test whether the regulator can move from individual enforcement actions towards a consistent compliance system covering the wider casino market.
