GGBet is closing its UK operations following the surrender of its UKGC licences. The operator is winding down its activities as part of a planned closure.

GGBet has been operating under Rednines Gaming, which surrendered its UK licences for casino and real event betting on December 13th, five years after acquiring them.

This move is part of a larger trend of consolidation in the UK gambling market, especially among smaller operators, due to the government’s decision to increase the online casino tax to 40% starting in April 2026, with a sports betting duty increase to follow.

On its website, GGBet informs customers: “Dear players, GGBET.co.uk is preparing to wind down its operations under the UK Gambling Commission licence as part of a planned platform closure.

“We are managing this process responsibly to ensure every customer can withdraw their funds and receive full support before the closure takes effect.”

As of December 12th, GGBet stopped accepting new registrations, deposits and bets on slots, live casino games and sports events. Existing customers can still log in and withdraw their balances until January. 9th, 2026.

The company adds: “We will process all pending withdrawals promptly, using the original payment method where possible. All bets on events taking place before the closure date will be settled normally.

“Any unsettled bets on events scheduled after the closure date will be voided, with stakes automatically refunded to your account balance.”

Previously operating under the Dr.Bet brand, GGBet rebranded after being acquired by Rednines Gaming in July 2023.

This closure reflects a broader industry shift, with many operators seeking to acquire assets from companies leaving the UK market, including databases and brand properties.
