Renowned football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano will headline the SBC Summit, offering insights on building a sports media brand in the digital age.
Known for his iconic “Here we go!” transfer confirmations, Romano has amassed over 70 million followers by transforming into an influential independent media force.
Fabrizio is set to appear on the Super Stage at the MEO Arena in Lisbon on September 30th at 1:15pm. The session, titled Here We Go: Trust, Speed and the Business of Breaking News, will feature Romano alongside Lasha Machavariani, Founder of SMH Global. Together, they will delve into the strategies Romano employed to develop a global media brand centred around speed, accuracy and trust.
For operators, affiliates and marketers, the session promises valuable insights into the dynamics of creator partnerships. Romano will share his criteria for selecting betting and affiliate brands, emphasising that a large audience alone does not ensure genuine engagement. This discussion is particularly relevant for those seeking to leverage social media for brand growth.
Rasmus Sojmark, Founder & CEO of SBC, says: “Signing a new player is one of the most exciting moments for any football fan. It is a time of pure anticipation, the kind that has you refreshing your phone every few minutes hoping for an update.
“And every fan knows it is only when Fabrizio delivers his ‘Here We Go’ that they can finally relax, certain the deal is as good as done. Where fans once relied on traditional media for this confirmation, Romano took the bold step of bringing it to them directly.
“Building a brand around direct fan engagement may look obvious now, but Romano was the first to do it, and this makes him one of the best people in sport to learn from when it comes to building an audience. We are thrilled he is joining us on the Super Stage.”
Romano’s appearance is part of a stellar line-up on the Super Stage, which features prominent figures from global sport, business and gaming. The Leadership in Sports Business panel will include basketball legend Michael Jordan, Sportradar Founder & CEO Carsten Koerl and DraftKings Co-Founder & CEO Jason Robins, exploring the intersections of sports and business.
Additionally, UFC superstar Charles Oliveira will join the Super Stage, and the Argentine FA will present a keynote on establishing a globally recognised sports brand.
