According to data from SOFTSWISS Sportsbook, almost 55% of all sports bets in 2022 were placed on football (soccer), confirming the sport’s global leadership position with its 20% year-on-year growth.

So, in terms of products, the most popular sports bet on through the platform in 2022 were Football (54.64%), Basketball (16.32%) and Tennis (15.67%). The FIFA World Cup 2022 obviously attracted bettors and represented 37.5% of all sports bets placed during tournament’s timeframe. The average bet at the tournament was €74 and the most popular match was the Final between Argentina and France. The most profitable match was Morocco vs Spain, where the Moroccan underdogs beat one of the tournament’s giants.
