Virtual Gaming Worlds reported revenue of A$7.3bn (US$5.2bn) for the year to June 30th, 2025, as growth from its US-focused sweepstakes casino brands continued ahead of the company being taken private.

The Australian gaming group’s revenue increased 19% year-on-year, while profit rose 33.5% to A$656m (US$470m). Chumba Casino, VGW’s largest US sweepstakes brand, generated A$5.2bn (US$3.7bn) in revenue, up 25% from the previous year. VGW also operates LuckyLand Slots, LuckyLand Casino, Global Poker, United Slots and Monopoly Match.

The company’s growth has made it one of Australia’s largest private gaming businesses and one of the most prominent operators in the US sweepstakes casino market.

The results came before founder Laurence Escalante completed a move to take the company private in a transaction valued at around A$3.2bn (US$2.3bn). VGW shareholders had previously been offered either cash or shares in a special purpose bid vehicle as part of the deal.

The performance highlights the scale of the US sweepstakes casino sector, where operators use social casino and sweepstakes mechanics to reach customers outside traditional real-money online casino frameworks.

However, VGW continues to face rising regulatory pressure. The company has previously warned that its core business could be materially affected if operations in the US or Canada are challenged by regulators. Industry reports said VGW’s list of ineligible US states has expanded from four to 11 over the past year. Several states, including New York and Tennessee, have moved against sweepstakes casinos, while Minnesota has considered legislation and Oklahoma is due to introduce a ban from November 1st. For VGW, the latest financial results show a business of significant scale. For regulators, they also underline why sweepstakes casino models are now drawing closer scrutiny as US states reassess the boundary between social casino, promotional sweepstakes and regulated online gambling.
