Wynn Resorts has registered trademarks for the terms ‘Arabian Strip’ and ‘Marjan Strip’, suggesting that it plans to add a slice of Vegas to its planned casino resort on Al-Marjan Island in the United Arab Emirates.
The Wynn project, in partnership with local hotel developer RAK Hospitality Holding, will be the first gaming venue in the UAE, costing around $2bn to build and launched in, it is hoped, 2026.
Ras Al Khaimah is in the process of developing gaming regulations and standards for the Al-Marjan Island casino. This includes the recent formation of a Department of Entertainment & Gaming Regulation, focused on what is described as the social, cultural and environmental landscape of the Emirate and covering licensing, taxation, operational procedures and consumer safeguards.
