According to ResearchAndMarkets.com, the global online gambling market is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 6.8% through to 2034, reaching an estimated US$179.7bn from $99.7bn in 2025, as technology development and continued legalisation support wider industry expansion.

The report positions Europe as the leading regional market, accounting for more than 49% of global share in 2025, with growth supported by mature regulation, strong consumer demand and broad product availability.

North America is also expected to remain a major growth driver, particularly as more US states continue to open regulated online betting and gaming markets.

ResearchAndMarkets said that technological progress remains central to the sector’s development. AI, live streaming and immersive formats such as virtual reality are all helping to improve user experience, while blockchain and enhanced payment security are strengthening trust in digital platforms. Rising smartphone and internet penetration are also expanding access and supporting further adoption.

Sports betting continues to lead by product vertical, accounting for 51.5% of market share, while desktop remains the largest device segment, although mobile continues to gain momentum. The wider outlook points to a market still moving forward at scale, but with growth shaped increasingly by regulation, technology capability and the ability of operators to adapt to changing consumer behaviour.
