Kazakhstan recorded the world’s largest weekly increase in gambling-related search activity after authorities tightened controls around offshore casino payments, according to Blask’s latest iGaming Market Report.

Blask said Kazakhstan posted 30.4% week-on-week growth in iGaming search activity during the reporting period May 18th to 24th. This increase followed new rules targeting offshore casino payments, which took effect on May 17th.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Finance has pushed telecommunications companies to block illegal online casino payments made through mobile phone balances. Blask says this regulatory move triggered increased search activity around licensed operators, legal access methods and compliance information.

Kazakhstan topped Blask’s weekly list of growth markets, ahead of Switzerland, which rose 17.3%, Uzbekistan on 17.1%, El Salvador on 14.2% and Moldova on 6.2%.

These figures should be read as a measure of gambling-related search momentum and not as revenue growth.

Blask tracks market demand indicators and search behaviour across iGaming markets, giving operators and suppliers a view of short-term shifts in audience interest.

The week was also influenced by the end of Europe’s domestic football seasons, which removed one of the largest recurring drivers of gambling-related search traffic across several markets.

For operators, this latest data illustrates how quickly regulatory action, sports calendars and national sporting narratives can move iGaming search behaviour. Kazakhstan’s surge is notable because it was driven by enforcement pressure rather than a major sporting event.

For regulators, the figures also show the visibility problem created by illegal gambling controls. When authorities block payments or restrict offshore access, user behaviour often shifts immediately into search activity around legal alternatives, workarounds and compliance information.
