According to a February 17th, SEC filing, Greycroft has expanded its investment in Sportradar Group by acquiring an additional 110,000 shares This increased its total holdings to 130,000 shares and is valued at approximately $2.65m.
As of February 23rd, Sportradar shares were priced at $17.18, experiencing a one-year decline of 19.2%, lagging behind the S&P 500 by 32%. Despite this decline, Greycroft’s continued investment indicates positive sentiment towards the company’s future prospects in the sports data and analytics sector.
Sportradar is a leading provider of sports data and analytics, using proprietary technology to support the sports betting and media industries. The company’s extensive data coverage, real-time analytics and integrated software solutions position it as a significant player in the digital transformation of sports entertainment and betting.
Greycroft’s move to increase its stake from 20,000 to 130,000 shares makes Sportradar its sixth-largest holding. This decision comes after the company’s share price dropped another 10% in the last quarter, suggesting Greycroft’s confidence in Sportradar’s potential despite recent market challenges.
Sportradar’s offerings include real-time data, stats, odds and audio-visual overlays for sportsbooks, covering over one million matches annually across 70 sports. It partners with 900 media companies, 800 sportsbooks and 400 sports leagues, sharing the leadership space with Genius Sports.
In addition, Sportradar is set to enhance its portfolio through a strategic acquisition with Endeavor, acquiring IMG Arena for $225m. This deal includes rights to the PGA Tour, UFC, MLS and three tennis majors, potentially boosting Sportradar’s market position.
As the sports betting industry is projected to grow significantly through 2030, Greycroft’s increased investment in Sportradar appears well-timed as the stock remains 40% below its peak.
